Second Act Communities and Virginia Beach Community Development Corporation hosted their Annual Meeting on April 25. Leaders from Hampton Roads and North Carolina received awards in recognition for their work in their communities.
Virginia Beach Community Development serves individuals from a variety of different backgrounds in housing stability. During the event, President and Chief Executive Officer Addie Thomason recognized two individuals, Charles Wright and Marcus Scriven, for the 2018 President’s Award for Excellence in Community Service. Four recipients were chosen for the 2018 Volunteer of the Year for Second Act Communities and Virginia Beach Community Development Corporation: Alex Watson, Courtney Lalonde, Erica Johnson and Yvonnia Moore. The event also recognized Second Act Communities’ Board Chair, Jim Banks, and Virginia Beach Community Development Corporation Interim Board Chair, Wanda Cooper, with the 2018 Servant Leadership Award.
