The Girl Scouts of the Colonial Coast received a grant from Newport News Shipbuilding, a division of Huntington Ingalls Industries. “We are incredibly grateful for the support from Newport News Shipbuilding” said GSCCC CEO Tracy Keller. “The funds will help us do our part in getting more girls in the STEM pipeline.”
The funds will be used to expand the Council’s STEM Titans of Tomorrow program offerings to more than 3,500 Girl Scouts on the Virginia Peninsula, grades kindergarten through 12. Only about 26 percent of STEM professionals are women. Through programs and a dedication to supporting STEM exploration and experimentation, the Council will help every girl to see that STEM careers are a viable profession.
